Position is responsible for governing all planning, design and construction for non-hospital buildings. Managing the development of the physical UAB campus grounds, landscape, infrastructure and buildings. Setting and managing guidelines and standards for the architectural character and image of the University. Planning and managing ongoing and future development as part of the Campus Master plan. Managing the development of programs, feasibility studies, budgets, schedules and funding sources for capital projects and preparing submittal packages for briefings to the Board of Trustees for approval. Providing overall guidance for construction and renovation project delivery methods and managing the selection of contractors or sub-contractors and to negotiate consultant contracts for capital projects.. Directs, coordinates and manages all construction projects from inception to completion; including feasibility studies, programming, design, procurement, construction, closeout and warranty. Includes development, implementation and enforcement of design standards. Ensures quality control, and adherence to design and construction standards for all projects including but not limited to renovations, new construction, infrastructure, hardscape, landscape, utilities. Ensures all targets and requirements are met and manages the timeline for project and completes within budget.. Provides overall guidance for construction and renovation project delivery methods and to manage the selection of contractors or sub-contractors and to negotiate consultant contracts for capital projects.. Develops, reviews, implements and manages overall campus master plan for the University.. Coordinates with other UAB entities on analysis and utilization of space as it relates to optimization of physical space and related resources.. Manages city and community relations regarding planning, design and construction.. Prepares submissions to the Board of Trustees including project summaries, project budgets and board resolutions along with five year capital development programs, annual capital development plans and the annual master plan submission to the Alabama Commission on Higher Education.. Manages the review and approval of any alteration to the exterior appearance of the facilities or grounds, including presentations to the Project Review Subcommittee, Campus Planning Committee and the Board of Trustees.. STARTING ANNUAL RATE OF PAY: $130,000.00 - $185,000.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications). Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Landscape Architecture, City/Urban/Campus Planning or a related field and twelve (12) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS:. Must maintain a valid driver's license issued in the United States. Motor Vehicle Record will be obtained and reviewed at least annually. Driving record should meet University underwriting standards to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Currently licensed and in good standing as a Professional Engineer by the State of Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors or currently registered and in good standing as a Registered Architect by the Alabama Board for Registration of Architects or currently registered and in good standing as a Registered Landscape Architect by the Alabama Board of Examiners of Landscape Architects or registered in the American Institute of Certified Planners or eligible to apply to one of these boards, and meeting all requirements for immediate reciprocal registration is strongly preferred..
